It’s the day after Workhuman 2018 and I’m feeling down.

I’ve had difficulty focusing.

It took more effort than it should have to work through a spreadsheet.

I wrote some very poorly worded emails.

Before I dove into each task today I closed my eyes, took a deep breath, and tried to reset. It was useless. I couldn’t make it more than five minutes before drifting.

That’s because working on spreadsheets and responding to emails isn’t nearly as exciting as listening to Brene Brown or Simon Sinek share compelling ideas and philosophies from a well-lit stage. It’s not as inspiring as discussing different strategies and best practices with people from a vast range of companies. Administrative tasks don’t have a catchy soundtrack to transition you from one to the next.

All that is to say I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Workhuman. Each day I left energized and optimistic about the future. I need to channel that energy and excitement in my own way to help organizations build better futures, and I hope everyone who attended does the same.
